What to Expect
In a carefully facilitated safe, supportive and collaborative environment participants work together to discover shared interests amongst a variety of perspectives about well-being and professional growth. Those open to discovery will find a creative, effective and fun approach to personal & professional growth.
With a commitment to self-care, at the end of the workshop, perhaps more important than professional credits, participants reconnect with the motivation and enthusiasm from the start of their careers.
The workshop uses active learning (experiential) incorporating Expressive arts-based practices which include writing, drawing, moving; suitable for all learning styles - visual, auditory, and kinetic.

More About The Teacher’s Way™
The course syllabus includes important and sometimes difficult inquires, such as:
-
Why do we respond in certain ways to difficult situations?
Where does my personal and professional practice intersect?
How is my self-care reflected in the way I work?
How can I improve how I observe others?
What are ways to track myself; how can I be more responsive and less reactive?
What are the ways I listen to others?
How can I improve my recognition and application of boundary-setting?
-
We approach the arts with a low skill, high sensitivity approach. For adults this approach can take time to fully cultivate, but the results are noticeable immediately.
Activities for each workshop are drawn from a variety of modalities:
Drawing with pastels, paint, chalk: This helps us imagine new ways of recognition and learning.
Drama unfolds when we engage with mask-making - a non-threatening way to help us identify and understand the roles we play.
Mixed media collaging with clay, watercolor and nature’s found objects can help us push into new areas of experimentation and brainstorming. Working in this way calls on the same resourcefulness and improvisational creativity some of us are already using in the classroom.
Music making for non-musicians gives us a chance to listen for patterns and rhythms, and each other.
Movement is another expression of finding your “true north”. Understanding the compass of your body leads to another source of strength. We’ll use simple movement explorations to find new ways to help you regulate, rest and energize yourself.
